Have you heard of the Rokujurigoe Kaido, the ancient pilgrimage trail said to have a history of more than 1,200 years?
This tour invites you to explore the traditional culture, rural lifestyle, and spiritual heritage rooted in the Southern Tsuruoka area, western side of Yamagata prefecture.
You’ll walk along the Rokujurigoe Kaido, a path lovingly restored over the past 20 years by local residents, and discover what makes this region a place, You’ll want to return to again and again.
Two days trip with a tour escort (English speaking) and local guides.
You can oversee the ancient Japanese people's way of thinking and back grounds of pilgrimage with nature worship and a "Journey to Reborn".
Day1: Experience fruits picking in Kushibiki area, a district renowned for producing some of Tsuruoka’s most delicious agricultural products. Stay at Yasuno Ryokan local Japanese inn.
Day2: Dressed in traditional white pilgrim attire, walk the mystical Rokujurigoe Trail to Honmyoji Temple and take part in a spiritual ceremony and visit altar of Sokushinbutu, self-mummified priest, that reveals the deep faith of this sacred land.
